The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival Appreciation Reception

The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival Appreciation Reception was held at the residence of Consul General Masami Kinefuchi on the evening of May 10, 2016 to celebrate the success of this year’s festival and to ask for continuing support for next year. The roughly 60 guests included members of the festival planning committee, representatives of festival sponsors, and other honored contributors. The Consul-General gave welcoming remarks attributing the success of the festival to the tireless efforts of the major sponsors and the Mayor’s office and asked for continuing support in the future. His remarks were followed by Mayor Megan Barry, who also expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s successful festival and her high hopes for next year. Clay and Cathy Jackson, co-chairs of the Cherry Blossom Festival Advisory Council, also gave remarks, thanking the many organizers and sponsors who made the festival possible. Ralph Schulz, Chair of the Board of the Japan-America Society of Tennessee, touched upon the good relationship between the two countries which is demonstrated by the festival and gave a closing toast. This reception, with many key contributors and supporters, promoted a strong US-Japan relationship through the Cherry Blossom Festival.
