12月4日、テネシー州ナッシュビル市内ホテルにおいて天皇陛下誕生日祝賀レセプションが開催されました。当日は、当館が管轄している5州(アーカンソー州、ケンタッキー州、テネシー州、ミシシッピ州、ルイジアナ州)より多数の皆様にご出席頂きました。式典では両国国歌の演奏と杵渕総領事の挨拶の後、ジム・ヘンリー・テネシー州副知事より日米関係の益々の発展を願うとのお祝いの挨拶がありました。
式典後、出席者は、日本酒と寿司や和牛、日本産新米などの日本食などを楽しみつつ、交流を深めました。また、多数の日本企業にご協力頂き、会場内で日本企業の広報ブースを設置し、当地で活躍している日本企業の紹介や日本への観光旅行のPRを行いました。
レセプションに先立ち、カール・ディーン・前ナッシュビル市長への外務大臣表彰式を実施しました。杵渕総領事より、ディーン氏の日米友好親善への功績を称え、賞状を贈呈しました。ディーン氏よりナッシュビル市の発展における日本のプレゼンスに対して謝意が述べられました。
Consul-General Masami Kinefuchi hosted a reception to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor Akihito on December 4 in Nashville, Tennessee, inviting a great number of people mainly from the five states Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee, the five states which the Consulate-General in Nashville oversees. After the guests stood in recognition of the national anthems of both Japan and the US and the Consul-General welcomed the guests, the Hon. Jim Henry, Deputy Governor of Tennessee, made congratulatory remarks to express his hopes for further enhancement of Japan-US relations.
After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed Japanese sake and cuisine such as sushi, wagyu beef, and newly cropped rice. The reception also hosted booths from a variety of Japanese companies which introduced their business activities in this region and shared useful information about travel to Japan.
Preceding the reception, Consul-General Kinefuchi hosted a ceremony to award the Foreign Minister’s Commendation to the Hon. Karl Dean, Former Mayor of Nashville. The Consul-General acknowledged the great contributions of Former Mayor Dean to friendship and goodwill between Japan and the United States, and presented him the certificate. Former Mayor Dean expressed his gratitude to Japan for its contributions to the development of the city of Nashville.
