On March 18, 2021, the Government of Japan decided the suspension of “Business Track” and “Residence Track” with all the countries/regions covered under the framework for the time being. The new entry of foreign nationals into Japan under these two tracks will not be permitted and the relaxation of restrictions on movement during the period of 14-day quarantine through “Business Track” will no longer be permitted for Japanese nationals and foreign nationals with the status of residence for the time being. For foreign nationals who plan to enter Japan, please reviewthis page.
States our region impacted by enhanced travel restrictions are AR, KY, MS, and LA. In addition to existing border enforcement measures, travelers, regardless of nationality and/or residency status in Japan, who have been physically present in these states preceding travel will be required to quarantine in a facility designated by the quarantine officer upon arrival in Japan for three days. These facilities are typically Japanese business hotels located near the airport. On the third day they will be required to take the COVID-19 test again. Those who have a negative result on this test are still required to self-quarantine at home as a substitute for the accommodations booked by the quarantine office for the remainder of the 14 days after entering Japan.
