On August 26, Consul-General Watanabe visited UACJ North America, Inc. in Louisville, Kentucky. UACJ North America conducts a wide range of aluminum-related businesses across the region, including the production of aluminum sheet for beverage cans and automotive applications. Its affiliate, Tri-Arrows Aluminum Inc. (TAA), jointly operates Logan Aluminum with Novelis. As one of the largest rolled aluminum facilities in North America, Logan Aluminum has the capacity to produce more than 45% of the aluminum used in the region's beverage can market.
TAA also promotes aluminum recycling and environmental stewardship through community-based initiatives. In partnership with the University of Louisville, TAA supports Cans for Cards, a program that collects aluminum beverage cans for recycling during home football games. TAA also sponsors Kentucky's Million Cans Recycling Contest, engaging elementary schools, students, families, and local communities in recycling education and awareness efforts.
