The 13th Knox Asian Festival

On Sunday, August 30, the 13th Knox Asian Festival was held at World’s Fair Park in Knoxville, Tennessee. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the sister-city partnership between the City of Knoxville and the City of Muroran, Hokkaido, so Mayor Takeshi Aoyama of Muroran and his delegation also took part in the festival.
In his remarks at the VIP reception, Consul-General Watanabe offered congratulations on the 35th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Knoxville and Muroran. He also noted that the many people-to-people exchanges over the years form the foundation of friendship between the two cities.
The festival featured stage performances and booths showcasing the cultures of various Asian countries and was bustling with many visitors. While Japanese companies and cultural organizations presented numerous aspects of Japanese culture, the Consulate’s booth offered shakuhachi and ikebana demonstrations, as well as sake tastings.
