Consul-General Watanabe’s visit to the Quantum Center at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga

On August 10, Consul-General Watanabe visited the Quantum Center at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. During the visit, he received a briefing on the City of Chattanooga’s initiatives in the field of quantum technology, centered around the Center, and toured the university’s Quantum Network Lab and other facilities. The visit was also attended by Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp, and representatives of Japanese-affiliated companies serving as board members of JAST.
In Chattanooga, the city government, state university, local power and telecommunications providers, and private companies work closely together to promote quantum technology as a key priority, taking an integrated approach to research and development, talent development, and industrial applications. The local stakeholders expressed their hopes for further collaboration and cooperation with Japanese-affiliated companies toward the continued advancement and practical application of quantum technology.
