Conferment Ceremony in Celebration of Dr. Robert Brown (January 19th, 2018)

On January 19th, 2018, the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville held a Conferment Ceremony for Dr. Robert Brown, Chair of the Japan/America Society of Kentucky(JASK), for his receipt of an Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette at the Governor's Mansion of Governor Matt Bevin in Frankfort, Kentucky, on the occasion of JASK’s annual New Year Party with 200 participants.
Consul-General Kinefuchi expressed his appreciation for Dr. Brown in his remarks, after which he formally conferred the Order. The Consul-General praised Dr. Brown for his long standing contributions as a leading member of JASK. His assistance was invaluable for the Japan Summer Festival in Lexington, a fundraising campaign for the Great East Japan Earthquake, promoting Japanese culture and mutual understanding by encouraging Kentucky schools to provide Japanese lessons for students and strengthening the Japan/American partnership in economic field. Dr. Brown expressed his gratitude for the honor saying that this honor was not only for himself but also for his family and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He also called Ms. Nancy Fulkes, the former Chair of JASK, forward and expressed his appreciation saying that he wouldn’t have received the Order without her contribution.
