Consul-General Kobayashi visited Louisiana Governor John Edwards (July 25th)

On July 25th, Consul-General Kobayashi met with Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards at the Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge. Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson and Ms. Donna Fraiche, Honorary Consul of Japan in New Orleans, also attended.
During the meeting, the Consul-General expressed his eagerness to work with Governor Edwards to further deepen the partnership between Japan and Louisiana. Governor Edwards welcomed Consul-General Kobayashi and expressed his sympathy for the people affected by the heavy rain of July 2018 in western parts of Japan.
The meeting took place one day after an announcement by a Japanese company to make additional investment in the State of Louisiana, prompting the two leaders to discuss the ways to further strengthen the Japan-Louisiana relationship in various areas, including economic relations. They also exchanged views on recent developments on trade issues.
