On Sunday, November 5, the Memphis Japan Festival 2023 was held at the Memphis Botanic Garden in Memphis, Tennessee. The festival featured a walking tour of the Japanese garden, Japanese cultural presentations on stage including taiko (Japanese drums), a cosplay fashion show, martial arts, and Japanese rock band Kazha, as well as a variety of vendors introducing Japan at their booths. The Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville introduced origami, name writing in Japanese, and explained about the JET Program at Consulate’s tent. Various workshops were held with topics like mochi pounding, how to draw manga, Japanese language, sake tasting and so on. Consul-General Matsumoto also presented checks for the Japan Foundation's Japanese language education support grant to the University of Memphis and University Middle School and High School.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the many people who came to the event and to all those who helped organize the festival.
