2024/8/5

On Friday, August 2, participants for the 2024 JET Program (Japan Exchange and Teaching Program) were invited to Belmont University in Nashville for a pre-departure orientation for about 40 participants. After the orientation, Consul-General Watanabe hosted a farewell reception at the official residence.
The following day, Saturday, August 3, the JET Program participants departed Nashville for Tokyo, where they will attend a three-day orientation before heading to their new destinations.
The JET Program is administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), with the aim of promoting internationalization at the grassroots level in Japan. Since the program's start in 1987, more than 70,000 participants from 70 countries have worked as assistant language teachers (ALTs), coordinators for international relations (CIRs), or sports international exchange officers (SEAs).
