Consul-General Watanabe Visits Hendersonville High School

On Wednesday, March 5, Consul-General Watanabe visited Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and met with students studying Japanese, school officials, and members of the Tsuru-Hendersonville Friendship Committee. Since last year, Hendersonville High School has been offering Japanese language classes taught by Ms. Alicia Kondo, a graduate of Hendersonville High School. About 50 students are taking Japanese language classes. Hendersonville High School is known as the high school where singer Taylor Swift attended, and the school has a Taylor Swift Auditorium on campus named after her. Hendersonville and Tsuru City in Yamanashi Prefecture entered into a sister city affiliation in 1983 and have continued sister city exchanges for over 40 years.
