On Thursday, March 26, Consul-General Watanabe hosted a reception at his Official Residence in Nashville for the JET participants who completed the program in 2025. The event brought together JET alumni from every decade of the program’s existence, university level Japanese language instructors from around Middle Tennessee, and board members of the Japan-America Society of Tennessee with the goal of supporting and enhancing the grassroots US-Japan connections that form one of the central pillars of the JET Program. In addition to remarks from the Consul-General, the guests heard from JET participants who had finished their JET experience in 2025, a 2026 JET who will begin her adventure in Japan on April 12, the President of the Music City JET Alumni Association, and the Executive Director of the Japan-America Society of Tennessee.

Since 1987, the JET Program has brought over 80,000 young professionals from around the world to Japan where they work in schools and government offices throughout the country for periods of one to five years. More information can be found at JETProgramUSA.org.
