Kentucky Japan Festival 2025
2025/9/20

On September 13, 2025, the “Kentucky Japan Festival 2025” (hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville, the Japan-America Society of Kentucky (JASK), the City of Frankfort, and others) was held in downtown Frankfort, Kentucky. At the opening ceremony, Deputy Consul-General Yamasaki of the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville delivered remarks alongside JASK Board Chair Mr. Rene DeBerdt. On the main stage, presentations included a Japanese drumming performance by the Wadaiko Goken Group from Cincinnati, a shamisen performance by Jackie Frain from Lexington, and a koto performance by Masayo Ishigaki from New York, among others. The Consulate- General of Japan in Nashville hosted a lecture and tasting event titled “Spirits of Japan” featuring Japanese alcoholic beverages such as sake, shochu, and plum wine. We also set up an experience booth where visitors could have their names written in Japanese and be introduced to the JET Program. The venue was packed with festival attendees all day, with particularly long lines forming at the Japanese food trucks. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all attendees who joined us in the heat, and to all the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to prepare for the festival.
