On May 20, Consul-General Watanabe attended the opening ceremony of Q&B Foods’ new factory in Clarksville, Tennessee. Q&B Foods is the U.S. subsidiary of Kewpie Corporation. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter, and  government officials also attended as guests of honor.

This new facility is Q&B Foods’ second production plant in the United States, joining another plant in California. The $65 million project was announced in November 2022 and is creating 85 new jobs.  In his remarks at the ceremony, Governor Lee expressed pride in welcoming a global brand like Kewpie to Tennessee and thanked the company for its contributions to the local economy and jobs being created. Consul-General Watanabe extended his congratulations to the Kewpie representatives and called on local stakeholders to continue supporting the company.
