On Sunday, November 2, the Memphis Japan Festival 2025 was held at the Memphis Botanic Garden in Memphis, Tennessee. At the festival's opening ceremony, Deputy Consul-General Yamasaki, Sammie Arnold, Executive Director of the Japan-America Society of Tennessee, and Mary Lynn Mack, Executive Director of the Memphis Botanic Garden, delivered opening remarks. DCG Yamasaki expressed gratitude to the sponsors, cooperating organizations, and volunteers who contributed to the festival, stating that the Memphis Japan Festival is a valuable event connecting Japan and the local community.

The Memphis Japan Festival featured Japanese garden walking tours, taiko drum performances, a cosplay fashion show, martial arts demonstrations, a concert by the Japanese rock band “KAZHA,” and numerous tents introducing various aspects of Japanese culture. Additionally, as part of the exchange between the City of Memphis and Tokyo's Bunkyo Ward, a special performance was given by rockabilly singer Billy Morokawa, who was visiting Memphis from Japan. At the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville tent, origami and the JET Program were introduced. Simultaneously, workshops on various Japanese cultural activities such as ikebana, tea ceremony, mochi pounding, manga drawing, and Japanese language were held.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the many attendees who joined us at the festival, and to everyone who contributed to its operation.
