Consul-General Watanabe Attends NAJAS Conference Opening Reception

On Wednesday, August 20, an opening reception was held at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center in Lexington, Kentucky, in conjunction with the 2025 National Association of Japan-America Societies (NAJAS) Annual Conference. The reception was hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville and the Japan-America Society of Kentucky (JASK).
At the reception, Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton emphasized the strong bond between Japan and Lexington, specifically highlighting the longstanding sister city relationship between Lexington and Shinhidaka-cho, Hokkaido, including her experience visiting Shinhidaka-cho last year, in her remarks. Following this, Consul-General Watanabe explained the close cooperation between Kentucky and Japan in economics, education, and culture, expressing appreciation for the activities of the Japan-America Society and its efforts to strengthen U.S.-Japan relations. Approximately 70 individuals attended the reception, including members of the Japan-America Society and other stakeholders in U.S.-Japan exchange within Kentucky.
