Consul-General Watanabe’s Visit to Nissan North America’s Canton Plant

On November 20, Consul-General Watanabe visited Nissan North America’s Canton plant in Mississippi. After receiving an overview of the company’s North American operations from company representatives on, he exchanged views on the current state of the business and its future outlook.
The Canton plant, which began operations in 2003, encompasses 4.7 million square feet of manufacturing space and produces models such as the Frontier pickup truck and the Altima sedan. The plant currently employs approximately 3,700 people.
The company also makes significant contributions to workforce development and education through various initiatives, including supporting STEM education by donating vehicles to the Mississippi Children’s Museum and developing training programs in collaboration with local technical colleges.
