Consul-General Watanabe Attends Japan-U.S. Panel Event Hosted by Tennessee World Affairs Council

On November 12 and 13, Consul-General Watanabe attended the Tennessee World Affairs Council (TNWAC) public event “U.S. and Japan: Allies in Security, Partners in Economic Prosperity” in Nashville and Knoxville, delivering the opening speech. In his speech, Consul-General Watanabe touched upon the latest developments in Japan-U.S. relations, as well as economic and cultural exchanges between Japan and Tennessee. He also expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders within the state who work diligently every day to strengthen the relations between Japan and the U.S.  and between Japan and Tennessee.

The event featured Andrew McDermott, President of Mission Value Partners, as moderator on the 12th, and Krista Weigand, Professor at the University of Tennessee Knoxville's School of Public Policy, as moderator on the 13th. Panelists included Tosh Minohara, Professor at Kobe University Graduate School of Law and Chairman of the Research Institute for India Pacific Affairs (RIIPA), and William Cho, Senior Fellow and Deputy Director of the Japan Chair at The Hudson Institute, as panelists.

Over 50 participants, primarily state-level stakeholders, attended both days.
