Hendersonville Student Report on Visit to Tsuru
2025/8/8

On Saturday, August 2, a sister city exchange report meeting between Tsuru City, Yamanashi Prefecture and Hendersonville City was held in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The Hendersonville Library, which served as the venue for the event, has a cherry blossom tree planted there in 2012, the 100th anniversary of the donation of cherry trees from Japan to Washington, D.C.
From the end of June to the beginning of July, 14 students from Hendersonville High School and Liberty Creek High School visited Tsuru City as part of a sister city exchange program. At the reporting session, the students who visited Japan gave presentations on their experiences in Japan, each choosing their own theme. During their visit to Japan, the students participated in various cultural experiences, including homestays, music performances, and sports activities. At the meeting, Consul Shoko Matsuoka of the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville delivered the opening remarks, highlighting that the exchange between Tsuru City and Hendersonville, one of the oldest sister city exchanges in Tennessee, plays a crucial role in fostering grassroots-level exchanges between Japan and Tennessee, as well as between Japan and the United States.
