On Sunday, March 7th, Consul-General Watanabe participated in "The Art of Washoku," organized by the Japan-America Society of Tennessee (JAST) at the Frist Art Museum, where he made short remarks at the beginning of the program. At the event, Acting Principal Tsukiko Hattori and Chief Professor Kiyoyuki Ichimaeda from the Hattori Nutrition College explained the unique qualities of washoku, traditional Japanese cuisine, as well as demonstrated how to prepare it. Attendees deepened their knowledge of washoku, which has been registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and enjoyed the washoku dishes that were served.
