Consul-General Watanabe attends CULCON Regional Summit

On Wednesday, July 29, Consul-General Watanabe attended the Regional Summit of the Japan-U.S. Cultural and Educational Exchange Conference (CULCON), which was held in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In his closing remarks, Consul-General Watanabe stated that fostering the next generation of talent and people-to-people exchanges that deepen mutual understanding are essential for the development of Japan-U.S. relations. He also emphasized the importance of opportunities for young people to develop an international perspective and build relationships of trust. He noticed that educational and cultural exchanges form the foundation of Japan-U.S. cooperation, including in the areas of the economy and security, and expressed his hope that the summit would continue to foster talent to support the partnership between the two countries.
In line with the summit’s theme “Fostering Future U.S.-Japant Talent,” the event featured discussions focused on fostering meaningful Louisiana-Japan connections, as well as a strategic discussion on facilitating U.S.-Japan Workforce Development
