On Tuesday, February 17, Consul-General Watanabe participated in the "Connecting Community: Japan-Tennessee Connection" event held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). The event was co-hosted by the Embassy of Japan in the United States, the East-West Center, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Following a performance by shamisen artists active in Knoxville, a fireside chat was held featuring the representatives of companies and organizations who have long contributed to Japan-Tennessee relations in the fields of education, culture, and business. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for participants, including students studying Japanese at UTK, to deepen their understanding about the longstanding friendship between Japan and Tennessee.
