The Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville is recruiting one individual to serve in the General/Political/Economic affairs sections of our office. Please submit the required documents (see Section 6: How to Apply) to the email address listed below by April 24 (Fri), 2026.

1.Working Conditions
Working Hours: Monday through Friday (excluding holidays)
8:30 am to 5:15 pm (with a 1-hour lunch break)
Note: Overtime and occasional holiday work may be required. (Overtime wages will be paid)
Holidays:
US federal and some Japanese national holidays, and annual paid leave
Benefits:
Medical insurance (80% premium paid by the employer)
Dental insurance (80% premium paid by the employer)
Work Location:
Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville with occasional business travel
2.Start of Employment
May 18 (Mon), 2026 (subject to change)
3.Responsibilities
-General Affairs section-related tasks
-Political and Economic affairs related tasks. This includes analysis of news articles, making political and economic reports of the states under the jurisdiction of the Consulate-General (Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana), drafting letters, arranging appointments and accompanying diplomats on business trips, participating in various events
-Performing other administrative and secretarial tasks as needed

4.Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder

5.Qualities Required for the Role
-Proficiency in English
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent reading comprehension
-Proficiency in general office tasks using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, etc.
-Ability to multi-task, follow procedures, and complete tasks with accuracy
-Strong ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with internal and external parties
-Demonstrated responsibility and ability to build trusting relationships
-Ability to contribute as a team member to achieve organizational goals
