On March 25, the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville and Vanderbilt University’s Institute of National Security co-hosted a lecture by Dr. Toshihiro Minohara, Professor at Kobe University Graduate School of Law and Chairman of the Research Institute for India Pacific Affairs (RIIPA), titled “Leadership and the Alliance: Unlocking Japan-U.S. Potential.”

In his welcome remarks, Consul-General Watanabe talked about the Japan-U.S. summit taken place just the previous week and Japan Tennessee economic relations.

Dr. Minohara then delivered an insightful presentation from multiple perspectives, including policy recommendations to maximize synergies in the Japan-U.S. relationship in light of the current international order as well as to promote Japan Tennessee relations in the areas such as investment from Japan and academic exchanges. The lecture, moderated by Dr. Douglas Adams, Executive Director at the Institute of National Security, was followed by a Q&A with Professor Michael A. Newton and attendees, and a reception.
