On Saturday, March 21, Consul-General Watanabe participated in the Sakura Matsuri hosted by the Plantation Agriculture Museum in Scott, Arkansas. This festival marked its third year since cherry trees were planted on the museum grounds three years ago to honor the contributions of six Japanese families who had been involved in the agricultural development of the area since 1945. At the festival, the National Association of Japan-America Societies (NAJAS) presented on Japan-US friendship and exchange. Local Arkansan groups performed, including taiko drummers, an aikido demonstration, and a tea ceremony experience. Additionally, tents introducing Japanese culture and the activities of local businesses were set up at the venue.
