On Wednesday, August 20, the Regional Summit of the Japan-U.S. Cultural and Educational Exchange Conference (CULCON) was held in Lexington, Kentucky. Deputy Consul-General Yamasaaki attended and delivered opening remarks alongside Ms. Paige Cottingham-Streeter, Executive Director of the U.S. CULCON Secretariat. This Regional Summit focused on the theme “Promoting Professional Opportunities to Strengthen the U.S.-Japan Partnership.” Discussions were held among approximately 30 participants representing companies, non-profit organizations, and universities with close ties to Japan. The summit highlighted opportunities for stakeholders to collaborate in creating pathways for former JET Program participants, university graduates with Japan-related majors, and young professionals to engage professionally in U.S.-Japan relations.
