On September 19, Consul-General Watanabe attended the 35th Anniversary Luncheon and Pavilion Unveiling Ceremony of DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc. (DMTN), located in Maryville, Tennessee.

The luncheon was attended by local dignitaries, including former U.S. Senator and former Governor of Tennessee Lamar Alexander—who hails from Maryville and played a key role in attracting DMTN to the area—as well as former Maryville Mayor Steve West and other community representatives.

Former Senator Alexander expressed his gratitude for the company’s significant contribution to the region through the creation of many high-quality jobs, and shared his hopes for the company’s continued growth and success.

Following the luncheon, a pavilion donated by DMTN was unveiled in a downtown Maryville city park in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the company’s operations. Additionally, DMTN announced the establishment of a new arboretum within the same park and celebrated the planting of the first of 35 trees, symbolizing the 35 years of operations.

Established in 1988 and beginning operations in 1990, DMTN is the largest manufacturing facility of DENSO in the United States and currently employs more than 4,000 people.
