On Saturday, October 11, Consul-General Watanabe attended the “New Orleans Japan Fest” (organized by the Japan Club of New Orleans and the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville) held at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) in New Orleans, Louisiana. This event introduced diverse aspects of Japanese culture, including music, martial arts, and dance, attracting over 3,800 attendees. Guided tours of the Japanese artworks on display in the Gitter Gallery at the New Orleans Museum of Art were also conducted. Numerous local organizations set up booths, adding to the festival's excitement. The main outdoor stage featured Japanese drum performances, a kimono fashion show, and a cosplay contest. Indoors, activities included Japanese language introductory sessions, Go (Igo) experiences, and samurai armor try-ons. On another stage, demonstrations of Japanese martial arts such as Iaido, Kendo, and Aikido were performed. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and to everyone involved in making this festival possible.
