Consul-General Watanabe visits Hitachi Astemo Americas' Berea Plant

On May 29, Consul-General Watanabe visited Hitachi Astemo Americas' Berea Plant in Berea, Kentucky. After receiving an overview of the company and its operations from company officials, Consul-General Watanabe toured the EV motor manufacturing line.
Established in 1987, the plant has been manufacturing automotive suspensions and motors at the same location for nearly 40 years and employs 911 people. Last July, the company announced an additional investment of $153 million to increase production of a new type of motors for EVs, and is preparing to start operations in August of this year. In addition to the Berea plant, Hitachi Astemo Americas also operates the Harrodsburg and Berea Motor plants in Kentucky, creating more than 2,000 jobs.
