【開催報告】在日米軍経験者レセプション（2月17日）

　2月17日（水）、在日米軍経験者とのネットワーク構築・強化を図るために、在日米軍経験者及び関係者を招待し、公邸にてレセプションを開催しました。テネシー州退役軍人サービス省の協力を得て、同州内に居住する在日米軍経験者40名以上の参加を得ました。
　レセプションの冒頭、杵渕総領事は、日米同盟が世界の平和と繁栄に果たす重要性や日米間の架け橋としての在日米軍経験者とのネットワークの必要性について述べました。また、東日本大震災・津波被害の際の在日米軍の献身的支援に対し改めて深甚なる謝意を表明しました。続いてクーパー連邦下院議員、ヘンリー副知事、グラインダー退役軍人サービス省長官、シュナイダー退役空軍小将から挨拶があり、それぞれ本事業は日本とテネシー州のパートナーシップを深める有益な機会である旨述べました。
　挨拶終了後、参加者は日本食、琴の生演奏、折り紙等日本文化を体験し、日本滞在時の経験を懐かしく語り合う場となりました。
 
　On Wednesday, February 17^th, a Military Networking Reception was held at the Consul-General’s official residence, for the purpose of building and strengthening ties with U.S. servicemembers previously stationed in Japan. With the cooperation of the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services, more than 40 people participated.  　　
    In his welcome remarks, Consul-General Kinefuchi noted that the Japan -  U.S. alliance is important to the peace and prosperity of all nations.  He also noted that U.S. servicemembers stationed in Japan serve as a bridge between Japan and the U.S., strengthening our alliance. Moreover, Consul-General Kinefuchi expressed deep gratitude for the dedicated support of U.S. forces stationed in Japan during the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. U.S. Representative Cooper, Deputy Governor Henry, Veterans Services Commissioner Grinder, and Major General Schneider also spoke, underscoring the many ways contribute to the economy, community, and culture of Tennessee. This networking reception was intended as an opportunity to further deepen the partnership between Japan and Tennessee.
     After the remarks, attendees enjoyed Japanese food, a live Japanese Harp performance and Origami displays.
