日米安全保障協力体制に関するセミナー（2月23日）

　2月23日，杵渕総領事は，テネシー・ワールド・アフェアーズ・カウンシル，テネシー日米協会，及びベルモント大学が共催したセミナーにおいて，「日米安保協力」をテーマに講演を行いました。
　講演では、日本の平和国家としての歩み，日米安全保障協力の歴史及び変革，日米同盟の構造，アジア太平洋を含む世界を取り巻く安全保障環境を踏まえた多岐の分野における協力，在日米軍再編，及び安全保障法の整備に関する基本理念等を説明しました。
　講演に続き、ジェームズ・アワー・ヴァンダービルト大学名誉教授（アワー日米研究センター所長）と対話形式にて日米安保同盟の重要性について討議を行い，参加者からの質疑にアワー名誉教授と共に応答しました。
 
 On February 23^rd, Consul-General Masami Kinefuchi participated in a town hall meeting co-hosted by Tennessee World Affairs Council and Belmont University, in association with the Japan-America Society of Tennessee, to discuss Japan-U.S. security cooperation.
 In his speech, he explained the salient features of the Japan-U.S. security alliance, including the ongoing efforts made by the Government of Japan as a peace-loving nation, history and development of Japan-U.S. security cooperation, and the structure of the alliance between our two countries. He also discussed bilateral collaboration in other areas against the backdrop of the global security situation, including the Asia-Pacific, the realignment of U.S. forces in Japan, and the Japanese “Legislation for Peace and Security”.   
 Following the lecture, Consul-General Kinefuchi and Dr. James Auer of the Auer U.S.-Japan Center engaged in a dialogue on the importance of the security alliance between Japan and the U.S. and held a Q&A session with the participants.
