Consul-General Matsumoto Attends Smyrna Sister Cities Committee Meeting

On June 6, 2023, Consul-General Yoichi Matsumoto attended the Sister City Committee meeting at Smyrna Town Hall in Smyrna, Tennessee. Smyrna has had a sister city relationship with Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan for over 30 years. As part of the sister city program, four students from Smyrna will be sent to Zama in July. The students will spend approximately two weeks in Zama. They will do a homestay with local families, have many cultural experiences, attend Japanese school, and visit local attractions. Consul-General Matsumoto briefed the students and their parents, as well as the Sister City Committee, on the activities of the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville. He also encouraged the students to make the most of their time in Japan and to share their experiences with friends and family upon their return.
 
The Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville will continue to support and encourage sister city exchanges, including student exchanges.
