Consul-General Matsumoto Attends Memphis Multicultural Advisory Board Meeting

On June 13, Consul-General Yoichi Matsumoto attended the Memphis Multicultural Advisory Board meeting held at the University of Memphis. Consul-General Matsumoto spoke to the committee about diversity in Japan. The Memphis Multicultural Advisory Board, headed by Ms. Queen Keskessa, was newly formed in November 2022 by Mayor Strickland’s executive order.
The Memphis Multicultural Advisory Board and Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville are co-hosting a movie screening of the film "Persona Non Grata" in Memphis this November, which describes the story of Chiune Sugihara, a Japanese diplomat who issued exit visas to Jews fleeing Europe during World War II and saved 6,000 Jewish people from the Holocaust.
