Consul-General Matsumoto Visits Tupelo, Mississippi

Consul-General Yoichi Matsumoto visited Tupelo, Tennessee, on August 14 and paid a courtesy call on Tupelo Mayor Todd Jordan. He expressed his gratitude for accepting Japanese people and Japanese companies into the Tupelo community and contributing to Japanese cultural activities.
He also attended the opening reception of an exhibition of Japanese woodblock prints and ceramics at the Gumtree Museum of Art in Tupelo. On display at the Gumtree throughout August are more than a dozen ukiyo-e prints on loan from the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art in Alabama, several kimonos owned by the Japan-America Society of Mississippi, and ceramics owned by the local artists.
