The Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville invites applications for one (1) locally hired staff position in the Consular Section. 1.Working conditions
-Working hours: Every Monday through Friday (except holidays)
8.30am to 5.15pm (1 hour lunch break) *However, overtime and holiday work may be required.
-Vacation policy: Weekends off (Saturdays and Sundays), days the Consulate is closed, annual paid vacation, and sick leave policy.
-Allowance and benefits: To be determined based on education and work history.
-Medical and dental insurance is available (partial co-payment). Please note that the Consulate General does not deduct federal and other taxes from salaries, so tax returns must be filed by the employee.
-Work location: Consulate General of Japan in Nashville, etc.
2.Start of Employment
August 2025 (To be determined)
3.Business
Consular services (passports, certificates, family registers and nationality, visas, Japanese citizenship assistance, overseas children’s education, overseas elections, etc.), including on-site consular services to remote areas.
Security and security-related duties
Other duties of the Consular Section (documentation, liaison (including translation and interpretation), legal research, etc.)
Other duties as deemed necessary by the Consulate-General

U.S. citizens or permanent residents

5.Qualities Required for the Job
Proficiency in English and Japanese
Strong written and reading comprehension and communication skills.
General office skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Email, etc.
Ability to multi-task, set up and follow procedures, and accurately complete paperwork.
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate smoothly with internal and external parties.
Able to work responsibly and build trusting relationships.
Contribute as a member of a team to the execution of the business.
