[Event] Film Persona Non Grata (September 27th)

On September 27th, the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville and Temple Israel co-sponsored the Tennessee premiere of "Persona Non Grata: The Story of Chiune Sugihara".
Set during the Second World War, "Persona Non Grata" tells the story of how Vice Consul Chiune Sugihara, a Japanese diplomat stationed in Lithuania, set out to save as many as 6,000 Jews by issuing visas that enabled them to flee Nazi occupation.
The showing began after opening remarks and introduction of Japan-Jewish relations from Temple Israel Rabbi Micah Greenstein, Consul-General Hiroyuki Kobayashi and Chairman Emeritus of the Japan-America Society of Tennessee Arnold Perl. This event was a part of Memphis' Japan-Tennessee week long celebration, and over 500 people participated to see the film.
