JET同窓会による芋煮会の開催とイアン・めぐみレイノルズ夫妻に対する総領事表彰の実施報告（１１月１６日）Ian and Megumi Reynolds receives a Consul-General’s Commendation at Imoni Kai hosted by JET Alumni Association in Nashville, TN (November 16, 2014)
１１月１６日（日）、テネシー州ナッシュビル市センテニアル公園にてJET Alumni Association (JETAA) Music City Chapter主催による第７回芋煮会が開催されました。元ＪＥＴプログラム参加者や日本語を学習している大学生など大勢の方々が集まり、山形県名物の芋煮などの日本料理を楽しみながら親交を深めました。
また、この席上、芋煮会の開催にご尽力いただいたイアン・レイノルズ、めぐみレイノルズ夫妻に対して、加藤元彦総領事より日テネシー間の友好親善促進への功績を称えて総領事表彰を授与しました。
ＪＥＴプログラムとはJapan Exchange and Teaching Programmeの略称で、世界４０カ国の青年を日本に招き、外国語教育の充実や地方自治体の国際交流の進展に従事していただくものです。参加者は帰国後も日本での経験を活かして日米交流に携わっています。JETAAは元ＪＥＴプログラム参加者のネットワーキングや日本語レベルの維持のために、様々なイベントを実施しています。

The 7th annual “Imoni Kai” was held at Centennial Park in Nashville, TN, on November 16, organized by the JET Alumni Association (JETAA) Music City Chapter. Former JET participants, university students studying Japanese language, and many others gathered over imoni, a traditional potato stew.
On this occasion, Consul-General Kato presented a Consul-General’s Commendation to Ian Reynolds and Megumi Reynolds in recognition of their outstanding contributions to promoting friendship between Japan and Tennessee.
The Japan Teaching and Exchange (JET) Program invites young university graduates from 40 countries to Japan. The participants engage with English language education and internationalization in local municipalities. They also stay involved with Japan-US exchanges after returning home. JETAA provides a lot of opportunities for alumni to network and to enhance their Japanese language skills.
