Cultural Goods Available for Lending

The Consulate-General of Japan maintains a library of Japanese cultural items available to lend at no cost to schools, community organizations, or other individuals with the purpose of Japanese cultural outreach. This page lists the most popular items available to lend, with links to the full inventory below. The lending period is two weeks and may be extended on request. 

Please note that items may be picked up in person at our office during regular office hours or shipped via FedEx. If you request the items be shipped to you, the borrower must provide a FedEx account number and pay for all shipping charges (including return shipping). 

To request a material loan, please fill in the request form below and email the completed form to our Cultural Programs Coordinator at info@nv.mofa.go.jp
Happi Coats Available in adult and children's sizes in green, blue, and red.
Yukata Available in male and female, adult and children's sizes in a variety of patterns. Also have accessories such as obi and sandals.
Traditional Toys Kendama, daruma otoshi, ring toss (wanage), spinning tops (koma), etc.
Plastic Food Displays Realistic plastic representations of popular Japanese food.
Japanese Dolls Intricately detailed dolls wearing traditional Japanese clothing.
Tea Ceremony Items Please see full list of items below.
Kamishibai Japanese story books. We also have wooden stage and clappers available. A full list of titles is available below.
Decorative Items Kokeshi dolls, daruma, folding fans, etc.
Calligraphy Supplies Brushes, paper, ink, and other accessories.
DVDs A variety of DVDs on Japanese culture. Please see full list of DVDs below.   
Item lending is on a first-come, first-served basis. Not all items may be available to lend. Please email info@nv.mofa.go.jp with any questions.
