ルイジアナ州キャメロン液化天然ガス(ＬＮＧ)事業の設備起工式開催 （１０月２３日）

２３日、ルイジアナ州メキシコ湾岸に近いハックベリーにおいてキャメロン液化天然ガス(ＬＮＧ)事業の設備起工式が、約３００人の関係者が出席するなかで盛大に執り行われました。
同式典にはランドリュー、ヴィター両連邦上院議員、ブースタニー連邦下院議員、ルイジアナ州議会議員などの地元要人が出席し、キャメロンＬＮＧ社が主体となる本事業に参画する三井物産、三菱商事、日本郵船、千代田化工他の日本企業幹部の方々多数が、また本件事業を支援する国際協力銀行から矢島副総裁も出席されました。
在ヒューストン総領事館から髙岡総領事と岩田領事が、当館からは加藤総領事の代理として井龍首席領事が出席しました。本事業のもとで４年後の２０１８年には日本への天然ガスの輸出が期待されており、また、千代田化工建設が参画するＬＮＧ生産設備の建設事業によって地元では約３,０００人が新規雇用が創出される見込みとのことです。
On October 23rd, approximately 300 people gathered in Hackberry, Louisiana, near the Gulf of Mexico, to celebrate an opening ceremony for the new Cameron Liquefaction Project. U.S. Senators Mary Landrieu and David Vitter were joined by U.S. Representative Charles Boustany, as well as numerous state legislators, for the occasion. From Japan, many executives and staff members of the collaborating companies, including Chiyoda International Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsui & CO., LTD., and Nihon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) Line also participated. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation, which is supporting the project, was represented by the Executive Managing Director, Mr. Yashima.
Consul-General Takaoka and Consul Iwata from the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston, and our own Deputy Consul-General Iryu, attended the ceremony as representatives of the Government of Japan.
Under this project, it is expected that LNG exports to Japan will begin sometime in 2018. Construction of the LNG facility, being managed by Chiyoda International Corporation, is expected to create 3,000 new jobs.
