4月7日,加藤総領事は,テネシー州下院議会において特別に招待を受け,日・テネシー関係についてスピーチを行いました。今回,加藤総領事はスティーヴ・マクダニエル同州下院議会副議長及びマイク・ハリソン下院議員により来賓として招待を受け,加藤総領事がスピーチを行う前に,日・テネシー間の緊密な紐帯と在ナッシュビル総領事館の働きについて敬意を表すとする下院議会の共同決議(H. 940)が発出されました。
加藤総領事は,99名の下院議員に,テネシー州内の邦人と日系企業に対するあたたかい受け入れと支援について感謝を表し,テネシーのホスピタリティこそが日系企業がここに多く集まる鍵となっている。また日・テネシー州の絆がさらに強まるように総領事館としても引き続き努力していく旨述べました。
On April 7, Consul-General Kato addressed the Tennessee House of Representatives in their chamber at the Tennessee Capitol. Consul-General Kato was invited by Representative Mike Harrison. Deputy Speaker Steve McDaniel introduced Consul-General Kato to the chamber and filed a special legislative resolution honoring the work of the consul-general and the Japan-Tennessee relationship. Representatives Pat Marsh, Dennis Roach, Charles Sargent, and Curtis Johnson accompanied Representatives Harrison and McDaniel in standing in support of Consul-General Kato during his introduction. In his introduction, Rep. McDaniel noted the appreciation the people of Tennessee have for Japanese investment in the state. His resolution, House Joint Resolution 940, noted that over 370 Japanese companies are located in the consul-general's five-state service area. In his remarks, Consul-General Kato thanked the 99 members of the Tennessee House for their support of Japanese companies and residents in the state. He said the welcoming nature of Tennessee communities is a key factor in Japanese companies locating to the state. He expressed deep gratitude for the honor of addressing such distinguished representatives of state government.
