９月１８日、１９日、加藤総領事は、東京のホテルニューオータニで開催された第３７回日本・米国南東部会日米合同会議に出席しました。
当日は、日本から同会議の共同議長である東芝・西田会長をはじめ多数の経済関係者、関経済産業大臣政務官他日本政府関係者、また、米国側からブライアント・ミシシッピ州知事、ハガティ・テネシー州経済開発庁長官をはじめ南東部州政府関係者、またケネディ駐日米国大使も参加され、日米両国の要人多数が出席し、今後の両国の経済関係に関し活発な議論が行われました。
加藤総領事はテネシー州、ミシシッピ州を管轄することから、開会式において挨拶し、現在、米国南東部では日本からの活発な投資が続いている、当地においては、良好な投資環境に加え当地特有のホスピタリティがあり、今後も日本からの投資は続いて行く見通しであると述べました。

 

 

Consul-General Sato attended the 37th Annual Joint Meeting of the Japan-US Southeast Association & the Southeast U.S./ Japan Association, held on September 18th and 19th, at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo.

Chairman Nishida of Toshiba, co-chair of the conference, was joined by Mr. Seki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and many other attendees related to the Japanese economy and government.  From the U.S.-side, participants included Governor Bryant of Mississippi, Commissioner Hagerty of TN, and many Southeastern government officials, as well as US Ambassador Kennedy.  Dignitaries from both the U.S. and Japan discussed economic relations between the two countries.
Consul-General Kato, with TN and MS in his jurisdiction, gave remarks on the current status and trend of increasing investment from Japan into the southeastern US.  The region offers generous hospitality in addition to a good investment environment.  Investment from Japan is expected to continue.
